This bills itself as:
A collection of cursed comics and illustrations from 17 artists who scarcely survived from their encounters with the Blobbed Entity
And it can be purchased for ten quid on etsy.
Honestly, I purchased this as a semi-joke gift for my husband’s birthday; he is a horror reader and was young during Blobby mania so I thought it might make him laugh when he unwrapped it, and that was the sum total of my hopes and expectations.
I’ve never enjoyed an anthology of anything (I’m sorry! It’s always full of chaff!) and was expecting this comic anthology to trade entirely on ‘haha, that’s a cool concept’ with middling execution of Creepy Blobby Time at best.
Imagine my surprise when this comic was actually fucking fantastic.

The styles of the various artists who contributed their work (see a list here) are very different but most of them have some genuinely creepy, horrifying, or unsettling imagery.

The tones vary from ‘very serious, very creepy’ to ‘this is a Mr Blobby horror zine, let’s have some fun with it’, which is much appreciated. Obviously there are a few stand outs in here which are excellent, but uncommon for an anthology, all of the component parts are super engaging and worth a read on their own merit.

This was such a surprising, funny, creepy, varied read – it was an easy 5 stars from me and a big thank you/enthusiastic thumbs up to all involved.
I hope this encourages you to pick it up! If you do, please let me know what you think.
If you’ve already read this one and are in the mood for some more creepified kids entertainment from the past, you might enjoy They’re Coming Down the Stairs by Shane Melisse (honestly, I’m glad someone else found the bananas from Bananas in Pyjamas terrifying).
